Make your own pizza

Pizza is a good first meal to learn. It has clear steps, it uses the oven and a knife, and you choose exactly what goes on top. Cook with your support worker, then do more of it yourself each time.

Why we do it this way

Capacity building, not just a cooked meal

A worker could make the pizza faster. That is not the goal. Each time you cook, your worker does a little less, until you can make dinner on your own or with a friend. Doing nothing at all, at the right moment, is part of the job.

David, 22, wants to cook for his housemates. In week one his worker shows every step. By week four David does it all himself, and his worker only stays close when the hot tray comes out.

David is an example participant, not a real person.
